The Süleyman Demirel Democracy and Development Museum is at Islamkoy, 24 kilometres from central Isparta — the village Demirel came from. It is laid out as a complex rather than a single building: 16,000 square metres holding a mosque, the main museum building, a library building, staff housing and stores.
What is displayed traces the career of a man who served as both prime minister and president. The halls hold objects and episodes from his life and work, gifts presented to him on visits at home and abroad, mementoes, plaques of thanks and photographs, caricatures of him drawn by Turkish humorists across different periods, and photographs from the ground-breakings and openings of projects central to Türkiye's development.
The library and archive sections hold thousands of works and are open to anyone doing research.
