Guide

The mosque is held to have been built at the beginning of the seventeenth century by Şeyh Keramettin, who came to Giresun in the 1590s and ran a medrese and a dervish lodge there. That the mosque and his tomb are mentioned in the tax register of 1642 shows the building existed before that date.

It is built in coursed masonry of cut and rubble stone, rectangular in plan along its length, and made up of the prayer hall and the women's gallery. There is a segmental-arched entrance on the north front, and round-arched window openings on the others.

Inside, the wooden ceiling and the two-storey wooden gallery are what draw the eye. The prayer niche is of stone, and the pulpit and preaching chair of wood. The minaret at the north-west corner has a square base, a polygonal shaft and a single balcony.
