Guide
The inscription over the door shows that this mosque was built in 1375, in the reign of Celaleddin Bayezid, known as Kötürüm, the Candarid bey. It is of cut stone, rectangular and close to square in plan, covered by a dome, and the provincial directorate calls it the largest example of this plan type in Sinop. It is also known as the Saray mosque.
In the small garden on its west side there is one sarcophagus grave. The book Sinop Kitabeleri records two graves there, so one has gone since. Neither the sarcophagus nor its stone carries an inscription, so whose it is cannot be known; the way it is built points to the Seljuk period. The mosque is in the centre of Sinop and can be reached on foot.
