Şahinkaya canyon lies on the Altınkaya dam lake, which was built on the Kızılırmak, and it is the deepest point of that reservoir. It runs about 1,500 metres.
The turquoise water below it is what people come to see. It is 13 kilometres from Vezirköprü, in the Türkmen quarter.
