The tomb of Mükrime Hatun stands at the southwest of the garden holding the Muradiye tombs in Bursa and was built in 1515. It is square in plan, laid in courses of stone and brick, with the transition from walls to dome made by squinches inside and an octagonal drum outside. The entrance on the east is an iwan of cut stone, with mihrab niches to its left and right; the muqarnas in the hood of the door have fallen away.
Twelve windows light the building: eight in the walls, in pairs, with pointed-arched pediments, stone frames and interlocking iron grilles, and four in the drum, pointed-arched with plaster tracery. The mihrab niche is formed of muqarnas in three rows. One loss to know about: the walls and the inside of the dome were painted with polychrome work in arabesque and geometric designs together with Quranic verses, and that decoration was later covered over with whitewash.
