A dome 19.43 metres across covers the main space of this mosque at Mudurnu — a wide span for its date, and the reason the provincial directorate places the building among the first large-domed works of Ottoman architecture. It is also accepted, the directorate says, as one of the earliest examples of the mosque type carried on eight supports.
The building went up in 1382. Bayezid I had it raised while he was still a prince, before he came to the throne.
Beneath that dome the plan is a rectangle close to a square, with a narthex of three bays in front of it.
