Kömürcübent lies within the Belgrade Forest in the Bahçeköy quarter of Sarıyer and covers three hectares. Declared a nature park by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry in 2011, it is one of nine nature parks within the forest.
It takes its name from the historic Kömürcübent dam, built on the Topuz stream in 1620 for Sultan Osman II, who reigned from 1618 to 1622. That dam is the oldest in the Belgrade Forest. There is a deer farm beside the nature park.
The dominant trees are sessile oak and hornbeam, with ash and alder along the stream banks. The other plants of the park are blackthorn, butcher's broom, Anatolian sarsaparilla and common ivy.
Getting there
Enter the Belgrade Forest by the Bahçeköy gate and continue past the Neşet Suyu and Falih Rıfkı Atay nature parks.
