The tomb stands on the corner where Camii Kebir Caddesi meets Boyacı Sokak, with the Ferhad Paşa tomb across the road and the family burial ground of Çengeloğlu Tahir Paşa beside it.
It carries three names, and the reason is in its inscription: it was built as the tomb of Şekerpâre Kadın, and in 1648 two officials of the palace — Abdurrahman Ağa of the Gate of Felicity and the chief treasurer Hasan Ağa — bought it together from the treasury. The fourteen-line inscription over the door records that purchase, which is why the building is also called the tomb of Abdurrahman and Hasan Ağa.
The dye-house that gave Boyacı Sokak its name stood at the end of the street until it was pulled down in 1982.
