The plateau is reached by a ten-kilometre asphalt road branching west at the sixtieth kilometre of the Çankırı–Kastamonu road. It is 70 kilometres from Çankırı and 20 from the district centre of Ilgaz, within whose boundaries it lies, at 1,650 metres.
There are plateau houses belonging to the surrounding villages, and a reservoir covering about 55,000 square metres.
Scots pine, black pine and fir stand around it along with meadow. Besides day visitors it draws people who want to ride or walk, to look at the landscape, to camp with a tent or a caravan, to photograph, or to walk in the mountains — helped by how easy it is to reach, the air and the number of springs.
