This mosque in the centre of Aydın is known locally as the Old New Mosque, and according to the sources it was built in 1585. It stands in a courtyard, built of cut stone, with a square single-domed prayer hall entered from the north; the dome is carried on squinches, and the windows on the fronts are rectangular under pointed-arch tympana.
Its decoration is concentrated in one place, the mihrab, which is marble, its polygonal niche covered by a muqarnas hood. On the north there is a three-bay domed porch for latecomers, and the minaret stands at the north end of the west front. The ablution fountain is on the north side of the courtyard. The mosque is on Batı Gazi Bulvarı and is reached by city transport.
