The Girlevik waterfall is at Girlevik village, about thirty kilometres from Erzincan, and it is the most used picnic ground in the province. The fall is roughly thirty metres high and drops in three tiers through a number of separate channels. In spring the ground around it comes out in daisies and fuchsias among many other plants, and visitors picnic and cool off in the shade of the oleaster trees.
The other season to come is winter. When the temperature falls below zero the waterfall freezes, which is a sight in itself, and the icicles that form make it suitable for ice climbing; climbers put on displays on the frozen fall through the winter months. Road transport runs between central Erzincan and the falls in both directions.
