Gerendal is a crater lake on the plateau of Şaban village, at 2,371 metres on the boundary between Bingöl and Elazığ, about 18 kilometres from the centre of Bingöl.
Its name comes from the Zaza word gerunek, meaning a whirlpool in water. The lake is heart-shaped and its water level does not change through the twelve months of the year. Walkers, photographers and people who come for the country around make up its visitors.
