This building at Dereköy, on a rocky hill south of Karaman, began as a church and was turned into a mosque in the sixteenth century by Sinan Paşa, governor-general of Karaman, who added an entrance and a minaret on the north side.
Its date is not known for certain; it is thought to have been built in the ninth or tenth century. The plan is a cross, with barrel vaults over the arms and cross vaults over the corner cells between them. The source gives the distance from Karaman as seven kilometres in one line and six in another.
