Dedeardıç is a juniper with eleven forks rising from one trunk, and the measurements on its page show why that matters: the girth at ground level is 11.30 metres while the tree is only 15 metres tall. The trunk is 3.76 metres across. Local people call it Dedeardıç, grandfather juniper.
The page is a survey record rather than a description, and it gives no age. It does name the species twice over and not consistently: as boylu ardıç, the Grecian juniper, and with the scientific name of the stinking juniper, Juniperus foetidissima. The two are different trees.
The rest of the record describes the site precisely. The tree stands at 1,720 metres on a slope of 25 per cent facing southeast, on sloping ground; its general appearance is good, it has not been pruned, its health is good, and there is no rot or hollow in the trunk. It was registered on 16 October 2002, on 0.10 hectares. The land is forest property under the Göktepe range of the Ermenek Forest Management Directorate.
To reach it, take the asphalt road from Göktepe town towards Işıklı village in Sarıveliler district of Karaman province; about 3.5 kilometres along, a road branches west, and the tree is about three kilometres down it.
