Danaağzı Nature Park lies near the village of Tepeören in the Karadeniz Ereğli district of Zonguldak, almost on the boundary with the Kozlu district, and covers fifty-seven hectares. The bay appears on nineteenth-century maps as Büyük Oksina, and lies near the bays of Köseağzı and Çavuşağzı, also known as Küçük Oksina. It was declared a nature park on 9 April 2014 — the fourth in Zonguldak and the 190th in Türkiye.
Maple, hornbeam, beech, black pine, oak and chestnut grow here, along with heather, ivy, primrose, oxeye daisy and eastern cyclamen.
Among the animals found here are otter, wild boar, squirrel, marten, jackal, fox, badger and hedgehog. The birds include grey heron, golden eagle, woodpecker, jay, swallow, sparrow, woodcock, quail and blackbird. It is also claimed that Mediterranean monk seals lived in the bay until the end of the twentieth century.
