The clock tower of Çorum was built in 1894 by Yedi Sekiz Hasan Pasha, a native of Çorum who served as commander of the guard at Beşiktaş. It stands in the middle of the city and is built in the manner of a minaret. The marble inscription above its round-arched south door, in eight ruled lines and dated 1312 in the Hijri calendar, records that Hasan Pasha built the tower by the command of Sultan Abdülhamid, that he devoted all his time to works of charity, and that this clock tower is among the finest of them.
The tower is built of yellow cut sandstone, with the transition from the octagonal base to the shaft made by a shoe of Turkish triangles. It is covered by a lead dome and carries a clock dial on each of its four sides. The balcony is reached through a round-arched door and up eighty-one steps. It is on Hamit Cami Sokak in the Çepni quarter.
