The mosque has no building inscription, so its date is not known. The single inscription it carries, in the courtyard, records a thorough repair carried out by Muhammed Çarhoglu and gives the year 1955; the calligraphy is by Behçet Efendi of Urfa.
The mosque was formerly known as Ömeriye and as Mesarkiye. The source gives its place twice and differently — the Kurtuluş quarter in the description, the Kamberiye quarter in the address. It is reached by city transport.
