The monastery whose Greek name, Pateriça, is rendered in Turkish as Ayışığı — moonlight — stands on the northern arm of Alibey island. It is reached by passing through the villages called Birinci Köy and İkinci Köy.
The building has been restored and is now used as a museum house.
