Altıparmak Nature Park was declared on 11 July 2013 over 2,110.92 hectares within the province of Artvin. It lies on the slopes of the Altıparmak mountains, the eastern part of the Kaçkar range, near the village of Altıparmak. Most of it falls within the Yusufeli district and a very small part within Ardeşen in Rize.
The values of the area are a historic arched bridge, glacial lakes, streams and the habitats they form. The most important watercourses are the Tunca stream and the streams feeding the Çoruh river.
There are many pastures, streams and lakes, and the high summits give a view through 360 degrees. The lakes lie in a line near the summits of the mountain; glacial lakes and moraine-dammed lakes formed on the high peaks during the ice age. Büyük Göl is one of the few lakes in the country with three floating islands in it. The Mulena and Mençuna waterfalls lie within the area, along with Çiro, one of the highest waterfalls in Türkiye.
