On Kızılelma Caddesi in Etimesgut, west of central Ankara, a museum building and an open-air park are run as one place. The displays inside reach from prehistoric Anatolia to the Ottoman centuries and mix archaeological finds with ethnographic material and changing exhibitions; the grounds outside are landscaped around historical themes and set with monuments, so the visit is part gallery and part walk. Education programmes and cultural events are held on site, and guided tours run at set hours.
