Kuzalan Nature Park, with the lake known as Mavi Göl, lies in the Dereli district of Giresun, forty-five kilometres from Giresun and thirteen from Dereli, and covers 482 hectares. It was declared a nature park in 2013 for its cultural and natural values. Among its highest points are the Dikoluk spring at 1,800 metres and Marazlı Tepesi at the same height.
The Göksu stream, running west from the point where the Aksu and Göksu meet, is the only soda-bearing stream in the Black Sea region. From that meeting point it forms five basin-shaped lakes running westward, the largest thirty metres across.
What sets this park apart among the more than two hundred nature parks in Türkiye are its travertines, which recall those of Pamukkale. Called white stone locally, they are not widely known, but travertine formations of many different kinds can be found both within the park and around it.
Beside the Şebinkarahisar–Giresun road is the stretch called Mavi Göl, the blue lake. From the end of May, when the snow melts, the Göksu runs from green to blue, and after the first week of July it turns entirely turquoise.
