The Kükürtlü springs lie behind the Kükürtlü garden between the centre of Bursa and Çekirge and are fed from the Bademli Bahçe source. There are seven springs; the water is sulphurous and radioactive and has the same properties, for bathing and for drinking, as the Vakifbahce source, and the Ministry reports that the sulphur water is beneficial for vascular conditions and chronic inflammatory disease. The water temperature runs between 54 and 84 degrees.
The buildings have an imperial history: the men's section was built by Murad I Hüdavendigar and the women's by Bayezid II, with additions made in the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. Know what the place is now, though — it operates today within Uludağ University as the Atatürk Rehabilitation and Research Centre rather than as a public bath. It is in the Kükürtlü quarter of Osmangazi, reached by metro or bus from the centre.
