Köroğlu Nature Park lies in the northern part of the Çamoluk area of Giresun, and its boundaries follow natural ones: the forest, rock and river ecosystems that meet here. The Kelkit stream runs along its northern edge, and streams flow down through the park on both its eastern and western sides before joining the Kelkit.
The forest is oak and juniper, running both along the watercourses and across the area more generally. Acacia, maple and willow appear as individual trees rather than stands, and there is a small amount of pine and aspen. Hawthorn, cornelian cherry, mahaleb cherry, terebinth, rose hip, asparagus and almond grow here too. In the water there are catfish, carp and barbel.
The high ground is what people come for. Kalevri Dağı dominates the landscape of both the Çamoluk and the Kelkit valleys, and from it you can see down into each of them; there are viewpoints spaced along the ridge that climbs the mountain.
The park is not a wilderness set apart from settlement — it runs into the villages around it, there is vehicle access through it, and conditions for the people living there are monitored.
