The Aşağı Taşhan in the Buyukcami quarter of Bolu was built in the second half of the eighteenth century by a local notable, Emin Ağa. It is a two-storey han of cut stone with a courtyard, and the round-arched entrance door is at the middle of its south front.
Above that door the entrance space projects outwards on two large brackets; it is rectangular and covered by a barrel vault, and the south front is chamfered at both corners. Within the iwan-like entrance are small niches in the east and west walls. The rectangular space behind consists of shops around a small courtyard with chamfered corners, and that courtyard is now covered with a flat ceiling. Small square slit windows with round arches are used through the building. The han has been repaired over time and partly altered.
