The Ankara University History Museum is on the Beşevler main campus and sets out the milestones of the university's own history — the first university of the Turkish Republic, and one whose roots run back well before it. Its exhibits are objects with historical significance gathered in from the university's faculties and other units.
The museum was assembled over a long period by a commission drawn from the university's academic staff, working with a museum specialist, after space within the rectorate was renovated for the purpose. It is registered by the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a private museum under its own name.
Visiting takes planning: the museum can be seen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and only by appointment. The address is Ankara Üniversitesi, Dögol Caddesi, 06100 Beşevler, reached by Ankaray and buses running to Beşevler.
