Altaş Kalesi — the village and the castle are also given as Ur — stands on a pointed hill east of the village, at the eighteenth kilometre of the Ardahan-Hanak road.
Historical sources mention only its name and its location, nothing more. Its first date of building is not settled, though the provincial directorate says it is understood to have existed since the seventh or eighth century.
