The church stands in the Yeşildere quarter of Akdağmadeni — the older name is Tahmaz — and its inscription gives 1862 as the date of building. The front is cut stone and the other faces cut marble. A round-arched entrance opening runs across the front, its arches tied to one another by two round stones at the centre and angled stones at the sides. The doorway itself is decorated with a round arch, and there are eleven Greek inscriptions above the door and two beneath the frame.
Inside, the plan is rectangular and the floor is paved in stone. Eight round columns divide the interior into three equal parts on the east–west axis, linked to one another by round arches and wooden tie beams. In places, crosses and geometric ornament can be made out on the plaster.
The building was taken under protection by decision of the High Council for Immovable Antiquities and Monuments dated 8 April 1983.
