Before planning a visit: the Great Mosque of Adıyaman collapsed in the earthquake of 2023 and restoration work has begun. The mosque stands in the city centre and was built at the beginning of the sixteenth century, in the time of the Dulkadirid beylik, and repaired many times afterwards.
Its dates come from two inscriptions on the base of the minaret. The one on the upper surface facing east records that the mosque was built in the form it had until recently in 1863; another, below it within an arch, shows that it was restored in 1902.
