Yağcılar Höyüğü stands in the Yağcılar district 24 kilometres northwest of Muş: on the Muş-Elazığ road, 1,700 metres past the Murat bridge, a road branches north and the mound lies at its seventh kilometre.
What the provincial directorate says about it is mostly about the absence of study. Research in the area has concentrated on particular spots and rarely gone beyond them. M. S. Rothman, surveying along the Murat river because of the Alpaslan dam, worked at Yeroluk (Palas) and Bozbulut (Komus) near this mound but made no mention of the mound itself.
